The Daniel D. Fernandez, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9676 in Los Lunas was joined by La Vida Felicidad, Inc., in their Non-Perishable Food and Personal Hygiene Products Drive.

This drive will benefit struggling Valencia County families. VFW Commander Chet Pino stated that the drive started slowly on Oct. 1 and will end Oct. 17, but is growing in momentum. He and his Quartermaster Jack Lovato received a $500 check from Shannon Jaramillo representing the employees and staff at the Los Lunas Walmart Distribution Center.

The VFW Post and the new sponsor La Vida Felicidad are challenging any organization, business or individual to match or exceed this $500 cash donation; however, all donations are greatly appreciated. Cash donation can be made on the VFW Post’s website at vfw9676.org.

Both organization have been working hard to inform the public of their drive and to gather as much non-perishable food and personal hygiene product donations as possible. To date, they have placed collection boxes at the following location:

• Main Street Muscle and Fitness Center, 435 Main St., Los Lunas

• Los Lunas Fire Department, 465 Vallejos, Los Lunas

• Benny’s Mexican Kitchen, 1675 Bosque Farms Blvd., Bosque Farms

• Peralta Town Hall, 90-A Molina Road, Peralta

• Bosque Farms Village Hall, Bosque Farms Police Department, Bosque Farms Library, 1455 W. Bosque Loop, Bosque Farms

• Los Lunas Administration Building, 660 Main St., Los Lunas

• San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Ave., Los Lunas

• Huning Ranch, various locations near mailbox clusters
