The 2021 NMAA State Cross Country meet took place this past Saturday at Albuquerque Academy and Los Lunas, Belen and Valencia high schools all had runners competing in the day’s races.

In the boys district 5A, 5K run, Los Lunas High School had Micah Sparks finishing 28th, Eneas Armijo finishing 46th, Treyton Padilla finishing 55th, Andrew McKinney finishing 63rd, Logan Martin got 100th, Austin Watts finished 103th, and Brandon Shiplett rounded out the team in 114th position.

As a team, the Tigers finished 11th out of 15 schools.

As for Belen, the boys finished as follows: Santa Sisneros in 45th, Diego Martinez in 47th, Matias Padilla in 66th, Jacob Cardoza in 83rd, Ivander Wilson in 94th, Blaze Sheets in 101st, and Nicholas Fresquez in 119th.

As a team, Belen finished 12th out of 17 teams in the 4A District.

The sole Valencia runner for their boys team, Victor Ramirez finished 54th in the boys 4A 5K run.

On the girls side, Los Lunas has several runners competing in the girls 5k run for the 5A District.

Kiyah Padilla finished in 27th place, Audrey Abeita finished in 64th, Rio Romero placed 99th, Sol Romero finished 101st, Ava Eicherly came in 106th, and Breann Olivares was in 113th.

As a team, the Tigers finished 12th out of 15 schools.

Belen had the highest placed finisher on either boys or girls with Lisette Sanchez, who finished in the top 10 for the girl 4A 5K run.

Rounding out the rest of the Eagles in the 5k were Sara Martinez who came in 20th, Iris Silva who was 67th, Sofia Castillo in 69th, Gabriella Jaramillo who was in 79th, Alice Lamy in 80th, Shauncey in 83rd.

As a team, the Eagles finished sevent out of 16 teams.

Representing Valencia High was their sole participant, Sonja Lopez, who finished in 63rd place in the 4A District.
