Several powerhouse track squads will be racing for state qualification at the Socorro Invitiational on Thursday.

The starters gun will fire on the first prelim race at 10 a.m.

The field of competitors joining the Socorro and Magdalena boys and girls squads will be from Belen, Ruidoso, Grants, Cobre, Carrizozo, Mountainair, Los Alamos, Academy, Alamo Navajo, Moriarty, Pojoaque, West Las Vegas, Rio Rancho and Tucumcari.

“The powerhouse teams are Ruidoso, Los Alamos, Rio Rancho and Academy,” Warrior athletic director Chuck Zimmerly said. “They will be giving us good competition which will help our squad lower their times and hopefully qualify for state.”
