BPD meeting

The Belen Police Department will hold an in-person, town-hall-style meeting at 6 p.m., Friday, July 16, in the city council chambers at Belen City Hall. This event will also be streamed live on Facebook. BPD officials will answer questions and welcomes suggestions or feedback.

 

Summer picnic at Harvey House

The Belen Harvey House Museum will hold its grand reopening with a Summer Picnic and Sale from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 17. There will be free hot dogs, lemonade, a book sale, half-price T-shirts, a clearance sale on railroad books, Christmas in July sale, Fiber to Finish Guild with weaving and spinning demonstrations and sale, fresh farm eggs, Tin Lizzie Car Club and free guided tours of the museum. Birdhouse workshop and meeting

The Meadow Lake Parks Area Association will hold a birdhouse painting workshop from 8-11 a.m., Saturday, July 17, at the MLPAA property at the end of Meadow Lake Road.  The park will be open to the general public. The MLPAA has pre-made birdhouses and park benches for the park that need to be painted. The MLPAA July monthly meeting will follow starting at 1 p.m. All are invited to attend. Author, history discussion

Richard Melzer and John Taylor will discuss their book, “USS New Mexico BB-40,” which participated in both World War I and World War II. It suffered two kamikaze attacks and won eight battle stars during WWII. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, July 17, at the Los Lunas Transportation Center.

 

Performing Arts Camp at FUMC

The First United Methodist Church, 75 Manzano Expressway  in Rio Communities, will have its first-ever Performing Arts Camp July 19-23. The camp is designed for children going into third grade throught high school graduates. No experience is required but participants need to attend each day from 9 a.m. to noon. Everyone will share and receive training in theater, music and basic dance instruction. The original  production, “Jonah, the Fish and Me,” was written by Rev. Dr. Joe  MacDonald.

 

Performances in Bosque Farms

Peralta Playboys will perform from 7-9 p.m., Friday, July 23, and Friday, Aug. 20, at the Bosque Farms Community Center.

The Fiddlers & Musicians of New Mexico will perform from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, July 25; 6-9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, and from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Bosque Farms Community Center. A $3 donation will be collected at the door.

 

LLHS Class of 1971 reunion

The Los Lunas High School Class of 1971 will hold its 50th class reunion from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 7, at Teofilo’s, 144 Main St. in Los Lunas. The reunion will be in the large dining room and outside patio for both indoor and outdoor areas/seating available.
