Youth from Valencia County attended a state-wide leadership conference Jan. 25 to 27 at the Wyndam Hotel in Albuquerque, titled “Senior Leadership Retreat: 4-H: The Ultimate Voyage.”

This retreat was an opportunity for senior-age 4-H members, ages 14-19, to develop personal and group leadership skills through workshops, utilizing interesting and fun approaches.

Attending from Valencia County were Joseph Garcia, Mace Wells, Ty Harris, Jacob Wilson, Josh Boggs, Steve Lay, Charles Kimball, Emily Mechenbier, Caleb Baca, Traci Tuttle, Dexter Huber, Paul Moya, Brandon Wilson, Joshua Baca, Jayme Runyan, Jody Fuller, Tessie Emond, Adam Honeyfield, Bryce Richard and Luke Crawford.

Workshop topics included were in the areas of communication, problem solving, teamwork, goal setting, ethics, cultural diversity, speaking and creativity. If any youth are interested in joining 4-H, they may contact the 4-H Extension office at 865-9561.

Jayme Runyon was also selected as state 4-H diplomat at this event.
