Abran Abeyta

Abran Abeyta, age 79, a resident of Jarales, passed away on Nov. 3, 2022. He was born on Nov. 1, 1943, in Veguita, to Marcel O. and Maria Amparo Rubio Abeyta.

A viewing will be held at San Juan Catholic Church in Veguita at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at San Juan Catholic Cemetery.

Abran is preceded in death by his brothers, Norberto, Eusebio, Vences, Victoriano and Marcel; and sister, Josefa.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; children, Ruben (Cathy), Daniel (Carolyn), Katherine Thompson (Jerry) and Caroline Castillo (Dimas); stepson, James Trujillo (Julia); several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, brothers, Ines, Miguel (Ollie), Refugio (Cathy) and Beltran (Adela).

As a valued member of the community, Abran left an accomplished legacy that will live on for residents for years to come. His accomplishments included the establishment of the Veguita Fire Department, laying the groundwork for local law enforcement and restoring the San Juan Church to its original glory in 1976.

Abran was a contractor and was involved in the construction of bridges and infrastructure along the I-25 corridor. Abran Abeyta will be dearly missed by his family and friends and will live on through his many accomplishments.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Castillo, Gabriel Abeyta, Andrew Abeyta, Michael Abeyta, David Abeyta and Tom Abeyta.
