Antonia Bessie Connelly Brandt

Antonia Bessie Connelly Brandt, a resident of Albuquerque but proudly born and raised in Peralta, passed away peacefully in her home on June 25, 2022.

A devoted daughter, sister and ever-loving mother and grandmother, Bessie loved her family and friends, setting an amazing example of generosity, selflessness and class with everyone she touched. Her fun-loving spirit will forever live within all those she has loved and inspired.

Bessie lived her life to serve her Lord, and was a devoted member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Always the first to lend a hand, no one would leave Bessie’s house with an empty stomach, and most would leave with a little something to take home as well. She was sure to remind everyone not to go out without a jacket, and to ensure your sunglasses were on to protect from the sun. She saw the best in everyone and reminded us of the importance of forgiveness and generosity.

Bessie was incredibly proud of her career with Mountain Bell Phone Company, where she worked side by side with many of her lifelong friends. Sharp as a tack with a quick wit, Bessie enjoyed her work and took pride in teaching her peers, setting them up for success.

Following her retirement, Bessie loved to travel and embark on adventures with her friends and family. She loved new experiences and lived her life to the fullest.

Grandma Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Julianita Connelly; brothers, Antonio Connelly and Julian Connelly; sisters, Mayme Connelly, Norine Archuleta and Viola Armijo; her loving son, Mike Brandt and his wife Irene; and her great-great grandson, Levi Brandt.

She is survived by her loving son, Chris Brandt (Diane); granddaughters, Alaina (Randy), Crystol and Carlee; grandsons, Chris (Tammy) and Luis (Rebecca); 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and many, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Special thank you to Ms. Vangie Montoya, Bessie’s caregiver, and friend. Bessie and the entire family truly appreciate Vangie’s care and support.

All services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta on Wednesday, June 29. Interment followed at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her great-grandsons, Luis, Francisco, Christopher, Ryan and Matthew and great-granddaughters, Marie and Mamie. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons, Kierin, Kai, Michael, Caymon and Cooper.

Funeral arrangements were trusted to Noblin Funeral Service, Los Lunas, 2211-D Main St., SE, Los Lunas, 87031, 505-866-9992.
