California Water Service Group has announced awards totaling $80,000 in college scholarships for students living in the utility’s California, Hawaii, New Mexico and Washington service areas for the 2020-21 academic year.

Belen High School graduate, Tayler Silva, was awarded one of the $5,000 scholarships.

Tayler Silva was born In Albuquerque, raised in Rio Communities, and graduated from Belen High School in 2019.

During her high school years, Tayler concurrently attended courses at The University of New Mexico-Valencia to set her further ahead in the degree she is now pursuing at UNM Main Campus. She is in pursuit of her bachelor’s degree in psychology and in communication.

The pathway Tayler has followed has allowed her the opportunity to work as an educational assistant at the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy for the 2019-20 school year.

As Tayler begins her sophomore year at The University of New Mexico, she will also continue providing support within the classrooms at ASLA.
