Belen Eagles

The Belen Eagles hit the court at the Santa Fe High School Quad with Valencia, St. Michael’s and Santa Fe.

The Lady Eagles took home first place at the Quad to get their record to 8-1 on the season.

Riley Cordova picked up a win in the singles portion of the event, defeating Valencia’s Jenny Schaefer 8-0.

Isabella Jaramillo picked up two singles victories, defeating Lilly Genson of Valencia, 8-0, and Yasmin Verastegui-Palomino of Santa Fe, 8-1.

Gabriella Jaramillo defeated Karleigh Gibson of Valencia, 8-0, while Ava Fragua had two singles wins in her category.

Delicia Salazar and Leslie Olveda won via forfeits.

In the doubles part of the meeting, Cordova and Isabella Jaramillo won, while Gabriella Jaramillo and Fragua got two doubles victories in their category.

Salazar and Olveda also won a doubles victory in their category.

On the boys side, the Eagles finished in fourth place at the Quad.

Janek Stockhaus won, defeating Daniel Altobello of Valencia, 8-6. Cole Rodriguez also picked up a singles win, defeating Victor Ramirez of Valencia, 8-6.

The Eagles will be in action Cavern City Classic in Carlsbad on Friday.

Valencia Jaguars

The Jaguars were also at the Santa Fe Quad over the weekend, taking third place on the boys side and fourth place on the girls side.

For the Valencia boys, it was Xavier Castillo showing the way, winning twice on the singles side.

First, Castillo took care of Jack Joseph, of Santa Fe, 8-1. Castillo then defeated Taylor Wright, of Belen, 8-0.

Isaiah Castillo also won a pair of singles wins, defeating Diego Gadret, of Santa, Fe 8-5, and then Luke Austin, of Belen, 8-0.

Nick Torres grabbed a singles win, beating Evan Stynen, of Belen 8-1, while Phakin Vipasdamrongkul tied with Belen’s Allen Hernandez.

On the doubles side, the Castillo’s grabbed two victories. First they took care of Luis Carlos Flores and Humza Mahmood, of Santa Fe, 8-6, then Wright and Stockhaus, of Belen, 8-2.

Torres and Daniel Altobello also won on the doubles side, taking an 8-3 win over Stynen and Austin, of Belen.

Vipasdamrongkul and Victor Ramirez got a doubles win as well. They defeated Cole Rodriguez and Allen Hernandez, of Belen.

For the Lady Jaguars, Jenny Schaefer and Lilly Genson picked up a doubles win over St. Michael’s America Lucero and Avery Haffner, winning 8-7, on a 10-6 tie breaker.

Valencia will host Miyamura and Moriarty for matches this week.

Los Lunas Tigers

The Tigers were off last week during spring break. They will return to action this week when they pay Cibola a visit on both the boys and girls side.
