Ronnie Bell of Los Lunas rang up another victory in the Hobby Stock division during action at the Duke City Raceway Saturday night.

The race was a non-points event, so Bell remained in third place in the point standings. Bell is currently third in the standings, with 208 points, behind Phil York (224) and Ron Leatham Jr. (210).

Los Lunas drivers occupy the top four places in the division with Randall Trujillo (196) in fourth.

Memorial Day weekend racing at Duke City Raceway featured the the Modified racers in the first weekend of the New Mexico Modified Holiday Championships. The second half of the series will be run over the Labor Day weekend.

On Saturday, Los Lunas drivers won two of the heat events. Richard Johnson won the second heat, while Mark McClarran, also of Los Lunas, was fifth. Bobby Bachechi won the second heat, while Troy Treharn of Peralta placed third.

All four Valencia County drivers advanced to the finals, along with Andrew Frazier of Los Lunas, who qualified for the final by placing seventh in the semi-main event.

The main event was won by El Paso’s Curt Barnett, as Johnson ran second. Bachechi, Frazier and Treharn finished eighth through 10th respectively. McClarren was 18th in a field of 23 cars.

This Saturday, action at Duke City Raceway continues with more Modifieds. The Late Models, Street Stock and Hobby Stock divisions will also be racing.

Action starts at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 6-12. Kids 5 and under are free.
