Bobbie Ann Sullivan Salaz

1954-2023

Bobbie Ann Sullivan Salaz

Bobbie Ann Sullivan Salaz was born on March 20, 1954, and died Feb. 19, 2023.

Bobbie recently lost her five-year battle with cancer and went to be with her Lord.

She was delivered by her mom and dad, John L. and Carrie Sullivan, in their home. While the doctor was looking for the right house, Bobbie decided not to wait. All the doctor had to do when he arrived was cut the umbilical cord and then she was placed in her 7-year-old sister Carolyn’s arms.

Bobbie was always a tough cookie. She spent more than 30 years of her life as an educator, first by teaching in Cuba, N.M., then in Los Lunas. She retired from the school system after 30 years, but she was always a teacher.

Bobbie was extremely devoted to spreading the gospel in many ways. She helped in the church teaching classes, served at Sandia and Ponderosa Christian camps teaching and working in the kitchen, and worked with the prison ministry teaching young women the importance of God in their lives. One of her high points was when she had the honor of baptizing one of the women from the Bible study.

Other interests for Bobbie included running a vintage fabric store with her sister, Carolyn, in Peralta for about 10 years. Bobbie also loved gardening and especially tending her roses.

Bobbie is survived by her two sons, Jose Miguel Salaz and Abraham Carlos Sullivan Salaz, both of Peralta. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Lucille Sullivan Craig, of Belen; one granddaughter, Careisa; nephews, John Robert Craig and family, Cory Dillman, and Gabriel Dillman and family; and nieces, Christene and family and Nicole and family. Last but not least, Bobbie is survived by her three furry dog friends, Ace, Sugar and Littles.

Bobbie’s cremation has taken place. A private family gathering was held Thursday, Feb. 23. A celebration of Bobbie’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, at the Bosque Farms Church of Christ, 1635 Bosque Farms Blvd.
