Everett Paquin, 58, of Bosque Farms, and an enrolled of the Pueblo of Isleta, was arraigned in federal court on Thursday, May 20, on a three-count indictment of assault with a deadly weapon, witness tampering and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
A federal grand jury indicted Paquin on April 22. Paquin will remain detained pending trial.
According to the indictment, on or about Dec. 31, 2020, on the Pueblo of Isleta, Paquin allegedly assaulted the victim, known in court records as Jane Doe, with a knife. Jane Doe is an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Isleta. Paquin also allegedly prevented Jane Doe from contacting the police.
When police made contact with Paquin after the assault, he was allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm. As a previously convicted felon, Paquin cannot legally possess a firearm or ammunition.
If convicted, Paquin faces up to 20 years in prison.
