Bosque Farms

David Linthi-cum and Ginger Eldridge will be sworn in as Bosque Farms’ newest village councilors, as the two racked up the highest number of votes in a seven-person race Tues-day.

Linthicum received 502 votes while Eldridge racked up 497.

Other candidates and their vote totals were Dolly Wallace, 443;

Bradley FitzGerald, 366; Michael Sofia, 55; David P. Carr, 55; and Dennis DeSmet, 19. DeSmet had announced he was dropping out of the race and threw his support to Eldridge.

A law enforcement professional, Linthicum said that “the other candidates did a really good job. We really worked hard. It’s unfortunate that there can only be a couple of people taking the seats. I really appreciate the people that supported us, everyone that came out and voted.

“It’s a great feeling and we have a big task ahead of us. We have a lot of stuff coming up.”

Homemaker and former educator Eldridge said that “it was a good race. I just want to thank all of my supporters. It was an excellent turnout. It was better than we ever anticipated.

“Because it was such a good turnout was what made the difference for us. The challenge was working against great people like Dolly (Wallace) and Brad FitzGerald. It was high quality and that made the difference, running against people like that.”

A total of 992 voters turned out. Counting ballots took a little longer than expected because one machine had to be restarted, and officials couldn’t get it to close out, said Lillie McNabb, an election official.

Absentee ballots counted for 26 votes and there were 77 early voters.

The two new councilors will serve four-year terms.
