Carol M. Torrez, age 74, a resident of Peralta, passed away on March 10, 2023. Her family was by her side when she drifted off to be with the Lord.

Carol was born to Quirino and Mary Apodaca Moya, of Peralta, on May 2, 1948.

She is preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, Elisio and Carolina Moya; maternal grandparents, Julian and Eloisa Apodaca; sisters, Eloisa Perea and Beatrice Gabaldon; son-in-law, Victor M. Gurule; nephews, David Moya and Michael Perea; and niece, Raquel Perea.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Clovis Torrez; children, Valerie Torrez-Gurule (Victor), Barbara Sanchez (Cristobal), Anthony Torrez (Melissa Lucero) and Edward Torrez (Michael Friend); grandchildren, Jessica Torrez (Eli B. Collins), Manuel Gurule, Mikayla (David Bentley) and Annaka Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Analicia, Ellana and Gabriel Collins; brothers, Figo (Evangeline) and Gilbert Moya (Patricia); sister, Frances Garcia; favorite nephew, Eric Gabaldon (Leesa); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was an exceptional woman, wife, mother and grandmother. Many people considered Carol their surrogate mother and grandmother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. Carol did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help.

Carol regularly brought meals to the home of the neighbors and family, and she always ensured that everyone who crossed her threshold was safe, fed and happy. She will be missed immensely.
