Alberto Carrillo, a lifelong resident of Valencia County, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for county commissioner of District 3.

The 1961 graduate of Belen High School was in the U.S. Army for three years. He served 13 months in Korea, from 1961 to 1963.

Carrillo earned a bachelor of science degree in administrational justice and is a self-employed businessman.

“I am running for county commissioner, District 3. I enjoy helping people,” Carrillo said.

“I am concerned about the accountability of Valencia County funds and the welfare of county employees. My concern is for our county residents, so that they can feel secure in their own homes.

“If elected, my goal is to seek and acquire adequate and qualified personnel in the sheriff’s department, to keep our county residents safe.

“I want to see the economic development of the county secure. I also want environmental concerns of our county addressed.

“If elected commissioner, I will personally answer all phone calls directed to me concerning our county.”
