David Carlson

1947-2022

David Carlson, age 75, of Rio Communities, passed away on Dec. 4, 2022. He passed away due to natural causes.

David was born in Pasadena, Calif., and resided in New Mexico, Florida and California. He worked in a garbage dump, was a successful investment banker, property manager and, through word of mouth, a building contractor with his team of “experts,” who he only hired because he didn’t have enough hands to do everything.

Later, when he and his wife moved back to New Mexico, he worked in the public works department at the University of New Mexico, and then ran the HVAC system at the university’s famous arena, “The Pit.”

In the words of a dear friend, he was the smartest man he ever knew. He could fix anything and was a giver of sound advice. He loved baseball and was a season ticket holder of what was known then as the California Angels. He also helped bring Little League baseball to the Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area in California.

David is preceded in death by his father; his mother, Evelyn; baby boy, Carlson; sister, Karen; and his wife, Kathleen.

He leaves behind his daughter, Fayne; his son, Daryle; his sister, Alice; and his many beloved extended family members.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery,  7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, N.M., 87109.
