College prep workshop,

job skills seminar offered

Thinking of going to college or finding a job? The New Mexico Commis-sion of Higher Education presents a workshop on preparing for college at 4 p.m. Mon-day, April 22. Afterwards, New Mex-ico Job Works will teach a seminar on job preparation skills (resume prep, interviewing skills, etc.) at 6 p.m. Both workshops will be held at the Valencia County Cooperative Exten-sion Service Office. Re-districting session set

The Los Lunas Schools will hold a public hearing on re-districting on Tuesday, April 23, at the central office administration building. Maps of the district will be set up for the public to observe at the meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m., prior to the regular meeting of the Los Lunas School Board at 7 p.m. Francisco Apodaca of Productive Data Solutions of Albuquerque will help the board evaluate district data.

Clean up length of bosque

An Earth Day cleanup of the bosque from Los Lunas to Isleta is set for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27. It’s sponsored by Tierra Bonita, Keep Bosque Farms Beautiful and the Peralta Neighborhood Association. It’s part of the Great American Cleanup. Tierra Bonita will provide trash bags and T-shirts. Bring your own gloves, hats and water. Trucks will be needed to haul garbage to central locations along the levee road for removal by the conservancy district. Special zone election set

The election of board members of the special zoning district of Socorro County will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at the Abeytas Fire Department. Registered voters in northern Socorro County may vote.

Neighborhood groups meet

The Historic Tomé Neighborhood Association meets at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at the Tomé-Adelino Fire Department.

The Northern Socorro County Historical Neighborhood Association meets at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Manuel Sanchez Hall in Las Nutrias.

Career Academy cleans up

The Los Lunas Career Academy will hold a community clean-up day on Monday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Students, teachers and members of the community are invited to join the group in cleaning up the area around the road leading to the school at north Rio Del Oro.
