Eluteria “Lutie” Maria Lechuga

Our dear mother, Eluteria “Lutie” Maria Lechuga, of Belen, sadly passed away on Jan. 2, 2023 at the age of 79, surrounded by her loving family.

She married Sammie Lechuga in Manzano, N.M., on Feb. 10, 1962, and together they moved to Belen in 1973.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, nana, sister and tia, who was always there when we needed her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederico and Adela Zamora; brothers, Floreno and Benny Zamora; sister, Severa Nunez; and granddaughter, Samantha Lechuga.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Sammie Lechuga; her loving children, Henry (Sandra) Lechuga, Angela (Greg) Zamora, Jacob (Melissa) Lechuga, and Bernadette (Rick) Bibiano; her loving grandchildren, Katherine (Cris) Lechuga, Destinee (Gianna) Bibiano, Jayden Lechuga, Ethan Bibiano, Jorden Lechuga, Yeshua and Heavenly Bibiano; great-grandson, Ryan Hicks; sister, Mary Zamora; and brother, Maclovio (Gloria) Zamora; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Lutie welcomed everyone with open arms and always had a smile. She enjoyed being together with her family, and was proud of all of them. Lutie especially enjoyed spending time with her hitos.

She also enjoyed the outdoors, the casino and listening to her husband’s musical talents. Lutie loved to cook, and was known for her famous homemade tortillas, sopaipillas, tamales, red chile and many other delicious treats.

Mom, your life was a blessing to all that knew you, your memory is a treasure. You are loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure until we meet again.

Services for Lutie will take place on Friday, Jan. 13, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A visitation will take place at 9 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. A Mass will be recited at 10 a.m.
