Fidel Gerald Tabet

1933-2022

Fidel Gerald Tabet

Fidel was born on Feb. 21, 1933, and passed away at the age of 89 peacefully on Saturday morning, July 16, 2022, due to natural causes.

We embrace a beautiful image of Rosie there to greet him when he met his Jesus. If you knew Fidel, then he most likely and with great pride, introduced you to Jesus with his never wavering abundant faith.

Fidel married his love, Rosie, in June 1955, and graduated receiving his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of New Mexico in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army Medical services from 1956 to 1958.

In 1960, while he and Rosie were adding to their family, they opened Tabet Drug, a Belen institution serving the community for more than 35 years while raising their boys in the small, tight-knit community.

Fidel was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie (Sanchez) Tabet; his children, Michael Tabet, Gerald Tabet and Kevin Tabet; parents, Joe and Lily (Baca) Tabet; brother, Herman Tabet; brother, Wilfred Tabet; and brother, Thomas Tabet.

Fidel is survived by his son, Bruce and his wife, Mary Tabet; grandchildren, Joey (Amanda) Tabet, Kelly Tabet, Madison (Dale) Brown, Mason Tabet and Mitchell Tabet; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Kyle, Sadie and Nolan; siblings, Dolores Schiess, Gloria Trujillo, Lorena Sanchez and Richie (Sue) Tabet.

The family would like to thank Fidel’s life-long dedicated friends, Joe Maestes and Wilfred Chavez, for their compassion, dedication and companionship not only during Fidel’s life but especially during his final journey to be with the Lord. We would also like to thank the staff, especially Kathy McDonald, for the extra special care they provided for Fidel during his stay at Casa Anna Maria, aka Kaghan House. They were our guardian angels who made sure that he was comfortable, well cared for and that all of his needs were met.

As a precaution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will be holding a private service for Fidel. A recording of the service will be made available, after Aug. 13, 2022, by searching CCRGV Funeral Service on YouTube.

In lieu of flowers or donations, the family is requesting any monetary gifts to be sent directly to Casa Anna Maria, 1363 Kaghan Loop Dr., Rio Communities, NM, 87002.
