Harry Edward “Ed” Auge

1953-2022

Harry Edward “Ed” Auge

On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, Harry Edward “Ed” Auge passed on to the next life. He was called back at the age of 68 years young.

The greater New Mexico community has lost an adoring husband, a loving father, a grandfather, a friend, a talented church choir singer, your favorite car salesman and the best (or worst) dad jokes this side of the Rio Grande.

Ed was born to Lee and Ruth Auge on Sept. 14, 1953, in Belen. As indelible as the rest of the Auges are, Ed was no different. He graduated from Belen High School, third in his class, in 1971. He also played the clarinet in the Belen High School marching band, where he developed a life-long passion for music. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Northwood Institute, graduating as valedictorian in just three years.

He then returned home to Belen to join in the family business, where they all enjoyed great successes together. He and his brother, Robert, worked alongside each other as “The Auge Boys” for many years. They had many local commercials, and they were well known for their slogan “The Auge Boys are back!”

He was a Paul Harris fellow, president of the Belen Rotary Club, and president of the Greater Belen Chamber of Commerce.

Any day of the week, wherever you found Ed, you would be greeted with a handshake and a smile. He used his love, clever wit and patience in all matters regarding family.

He married his best friend and love of his life, Denese Auge, on Dec. 27, 1974. When Ed was not at the shop, you could find him with Denese playing music, traveling or driving his grandbabies around in his John Deere tractor.

Ed had a deep love for music, and truly enjoyed being a part of the First United Methodist Church choir in Belen. Ed had a big hearty laugh, and he was not afraid to share his joy. He loved with his whole heart, every minute of every day.

Ed joins a big band of angels in heaven that include his wonderful parents, grandma Ruth and grandpa Lee Auge; beloved grandson, Jared Trueba; his aunt, Helen; uncle, Harry; and uncle, Ray Auge.

Ed’s greatest joys were undoubtedly his family and friends. Ed is survived by his wife, Denese; his children, Carrie, David and Missy; grandchildren, Kylie, Alessandra and Hunter; his brother, Robert and wife, Nelda Auge; nephews, Brian, Timothy and Jeremy; aunt (“uncle”) Chris Auge; friends, Corby and Robert Chavez; and many more. He is so beloved; his presence is sorely missed.

Services for Ed Auge were held on Tuesday, July 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Belen.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the Belen First United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., 505-864-4448, where an online guest register is available at noblin.com.
