Los Lunas

Prominent business leaders were incarcerated on Wednesday at K-Bobs Steakhouse in Los Lunas. The Crime: Guilty of having a big heart.

These citizens have hearts of gold, loaded with care and concern for over 670 of their fellow New Mexicans who are affected with any of 43 neuromuscular diseases.

“I’ve noticed the people here are so full of spirit. They are generous, caring and having fun to help a good cause,” Program Coordinator Natalie Romero said Wednesday.

The jailbirds were sentenced to one hour in jail. They were processed with a mug shot, fed and then given the opportunity to make their last minute pleas to raise bail for “Jerry’s Kids.”

By mid-afternoon, Romero said, the jailbirds had raised almost $4,000 for the cause.
