Jalin Holland, of Los Lunas, was selected Metro Player of the Year and All-State first team.

Los Lunas High School sophomore Jalin Holland has been named to the 5A All-State Basketball first team, the All-Metro first team and topped it off with Metro Player of the Year honors.

Holland averaged 21 points, seven rebounds and two steals per game for the Tigers, who reached the semifinals of the state tournament under coach Travis Julian.

Valencia’s Ali Abdullah was named All-State honorable mention, All-Metro second team and All-Metro academic.

Isaiah Aragon, of Los Lunas, was also named All-Metro academic.

In girls’ basketball, Azalia Malizia, of Valencia, is an All-State honorable mention and All-Metro first team choice in 4A. VHS teammate Jadyn Montoya was named All-Metro second team.

Also on the 4A All-Metro second team is Belen’s Maesyn Lopez.

Bailey O’Conner, of Valencia, was recognized on the All-Metro All-Academic team.

The selections are made by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association.
