Janice “Jan” C. Carbajal

Janice “Jan” C. Carbajal, age 81, a resident of Sabinal, N.M., went home to be with her Lord on Feb. 3, 2023.

Jan was born and raised in Massachusetts. She moved to New Mexico in 1971 and shortly thereafter, went to work for State Farm in Dick Carbajal’s office. This is where she met and later married Dick’s brother, the love of her life, Barney Carbajal Jr. They were married for 44 1/2 years.

Services will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Visitation will take place at 9:30 a.m., with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Internment will take place at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Barney Carbajal; daughter-in-law, Bobbi Carbajal; grandson, Victor Dominguez; and many other precious family members.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, her first great-great grandchild who is on his way, and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Janice entered eternity as she lived her life, with strength and grace. Family has requested that any flower donations be made to the Catholic Charities of New Mexico at ccasfnm.org.
