The golden wedding anniversary of Gillie and Mary Ann Sachs Jaramillo of Los Lunas will be celebrated with a dinner with their children and grandchildren. The couple was married on June 16, 1952, in Belen.

Gillie is a graduate of Belen High School who attended the University of New Mexico for two years and is a graduate of Brown Institute of Real Estate. He worked first at Henry’s Market and then became owner of Citizens Finance. He is a member of the New Mexico Financial Association. He enjoys visiting and learning about the State of New Mexico.

Mary Ann had a full-time job raising five children who, she says, “have all been very productive.” The youngest son, Martin, was born deaf, and Mary Ann took him to oral school for 20 years, including summers. He can speak and sign and graduated from Del Norte High School. While Martin was in class, Mary Ann worked for Value House.

A Belen High School graduate, she enjoys traveling across the state and learning about it.

The Jaramillos are the parents of Gilbert Jaramillo and his son, Gilbert Jr., Jennifer and Elizabeth of Corrales Heights; Mary Ann Sorenson and her husband, Brad, and their son, Derek, of Florida; Ann Therese Mulryan and her husband, Gary, of Albuquerque; Annalee Kuidis and her husband, Gary, and their son, Kyle, of Los Lunas; and Martin R. Jaramillo and his wife, Cynthia, and their daughters, Rose and Faith, of Los Lunas. They have two great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann is still proud to say that her mother, Mary C. Sachs, made her wedding dress and bonnet with no pattern.
