Joshua Martinez

1996-2022

Joshua Martinez

Our beautiful boy, our son, Joshua Martinez, leaped into our lives on Feb. 29, 1996. On Feb. 16, 2023, at the age of 26, he took his last motorcycle ride to Heaven.

Josh was an HVAC journeyman, a member of Sheet Metal Local 49. Josh was an extremely passionate artist — drawing, welding, woodburning, you name it! He drew so many pictures of many characters and people, including his great-grandma, Sofia; Eddie, from Iron Maiden; scenery and many more things.

He loved his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews with his whole heart. Josh had the best taste in music, and always had to have his music playing. His favorite band was Iron Maiden. Singing karaoke was one of his many joys. Josh was extremely funny and made sure everyone around him was laughing.

He had the best moch accent; he could imitate any voice. His first word was “ferd.” Since he was a little boy, he always loved working on old Ford trucks with his dad. Guy, his dad, was his best friend and he wanted to be exactly like him. From an early age, his dad taught him how to fish and cut firewood.

Josh was a skilled mechanic, welder and fabricator. At the age of 7, he was welding and making his own projects. When he was 2 years old, he went to his first mudbog and from that day forward he always wanted to go four wheeling in a Ford.

Our son was always willing to help anyone who needed it; he would give the shirt off his back. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was blessed to know him.

Josh is survived by his father, Guy Martinez, and stepmother, Jennifer Martinez; mother, Sophia Carrejo and partner, Christy Kasiuba; his sisters, Shaylynn Martinez, Ariana Martinez (Julian Perry Sr.) and Olivia Martinez (Leo Alex Lozano).

Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Michael Martinez; his maternal grandfather, A.T. Carrejo; great-grandmother, Sofia Sanchez; and his great uncle, Jimmy Martinez.

He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Bonnie Terry; maternal grandparents, Sheila and David Garcia; paternal uncles, Rudy Casida and Nathan Terry; paternal aunts, Micha and Marie Martinez; maternal uncle, Antonio Carrejo (Michelle); maternal aunt, Antoinette (James Caldwell).

He was the best uncle to Michael, Mathius, Joesiah and Domaris Martinez, Nathaniel, Briseis and Julian Jr. Perry. Josh also has many more uncles, aunts and cousins. He has three step siblings, Danielle, Lindsey and Kevin.

He also had many bros and friends of all ages and walks of life, because Josh was a friend to all and loved with all his heart.

Pallbearers will be Leo Alex Lozano, Joseph Gurule, Andres Gurule, Julian Perry, Curtis and Travis Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Rudy Martinez Casida, Richard Martinez and Danny Gurule.
