Juan Carlos Torres

Juan Carlos Torres, age 48, of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, July 25, at his home in Albuquerque.

He was born Feb. 18, 1974, in Las Cruces, N.M., the son of Jose Eugenio and Maria Flor (Vidal) Torres.

Juan Carlos graduated from Belen High School in 1992, and was an Asics All-American wrestler. He graduated from Marquette University in 1996 with a degree in English and Spanish, and was the recipient of the Presidential Leadership Award.

He was outgoing, generous and kind-hearted. He was always moving and always smiling. He was a fierce competitor and loved people unconditionally.

Carlos had a long and successful career in sales. His friendly demeanor, dynamic personality and competitive spirit allowed him to sell anything to nearly anyone whether they needed it or not.

Juan Carlos is survived by his daughter, Isabella Torres, of Tampa, Fla.; his parents, Jose and Maria (Vidal) Torres, of Belen; his siblings, Jose Torres (Elizabeth), of Bettendorf, Iowa; Patricio Torres (Melody), of Albuquerque; and Pablo Torres (Jesse), of Albuquerque; and nieces and nephews, Jose Xavier, Rafael and Alessandra Torres, of Bettendorf, Iowa; Dacia Chavez and Talia Torres, of Albuquerque.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Eva (Chavez) Torres, and maternal grandmother, Rosario Vidal.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 4, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. The visitation will be at 9 a.m., the Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
