La Llorona storytelling

Haunting storytellers will be at the Belen Public Library at 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, talking about La Llorona.

Harvest Festival

New Life Fellowship, 1928 Fellowship Way, Belen, is holding a Harvest Festival from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22. There will be food, games and fun. Costume or not, all kids will have fun.

 

Pumpkin Hunt and Hay Ride

The Meadow Lake Parks Area Association will hold its annual Pumpkin Hunt and Hay Ride from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, at the MLPAA property at the end of Meadow Lake Road. Free candy, bikes and other prizes.

More than  200 pumpkins will be hidden around the park for you to claim. Bring your running shoes. All are invited to attend. For information, call Jim Lane at 505-865-9786.

Halloween Dance

A Halloween Dance will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Belen Senior Center, 715 S. Main St. DJ Wayne Gallegos will provide music, and there will be prizes for the best costume, and a 50-50 drawing.

 

Masquerade Ball

The New Mexico Special Orchestra will hold its annual Masquerade Ball at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Valencia Sheriff’s Posse Hall in Belen.

 

Story Time Halloween Party

The Los Lunas Public Library will hold a Story Time Halloween Party at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 27. Dress up for the Halloween story time. Enjoy some scary treats, sweets and tales.

The Haunted Barn

The local 4-H and FFA members will hold a Haunted Barn from 7-11 p.m., Friday-Saturday, Oct. 28-29, at the Valencia County Fairgrounds. Come out to the Haunted Barn to have a local scare by 4-H and FFA members. Admission is $5 per person.

 

Pancakes on the Fly

The city of Belen will host Pancakes on the Fly, a fly in and open house from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Belen Regional Airport, 4900 Camino del Llano, Belen. The event is open to the public. There will be a pancake breakfast, a haunted house in an airport hangar, and an aviation costume contest. See the planes and meet the pilots. Fiber Fest and Pumpkin Party

Tomé Art Gallery is holding a Fun Fall Fiber Fest and Pumpkin Party from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29. There will be hot chocolate and cider and lots of pumpkin goodies, fiber arts, include weaving, felting crochet, knitting, etc. Tomé Art Gallery is located at 2930 N.M. 47. Fall Festival

Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Road, is hosting a Fall Festival from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29. There will be games, including sack races, face painting, a cake walk, food trucks, jumpers and more. The event is free.

Fall Festival at Whitfield

Fall Festival and Whitfield Under the Stars will be held from 3-9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area, 2424 N.M. 47. There will be a presentation on fire prevention in the bosque from 3:30-4:30 p.m., a live owl presentation from 4:30-5:30 p.m., a bats and nighttime pollinators presentation from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and a night sky talk and viewing from 7-9 p.m. Admission is free and there will be local vendors and a hot air balloon. Halloween Bash

The village of Los Lunas will hold a Halloween Bash from 3-6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Los Lunas Sports Complex. A costume contest and cake walk begins at 5 p.m. There will be a trunk or treat, dog costume contest, games and you can pick out your own pumpkin. For more information, visit loslunasnm.gov.

 

Scarecrow Festival

The fourth annual Scarecrow Festival will be held from 3-6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, on Becker Avenue between Fifth and Sixth streets in Belen. There will be music, entertainment, a scarecrow parade and contest, costume contest, arts and crafts and food. Vendor spaces are available. First United Methodist Church, 75 Manzano Expressway in Rio Communities, will hold a Trunk or Treat from 4-7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29.

A Pyro Harvest Festival will be held from 5-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31, at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley, 19381 N.M. 314, Belen. There will be a trunk or treat, raffle prizes, a cake walk and fireworks at 8 p.m.
