Lydia Jean Gonzales

Lydia Jean Gonzales, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away at the age of 73 on Aug. 9, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family when she was called away to our Lord.

Lydia was born Dec. 6, 1948, in Belen. In 1967, she married her husband, Ruben, and they began their life and family together, raising their two sons and daughter, Daniel, Keith and Melissa in Belen.

Lydia began a career in nursing and worked for many years with Dr. Llewelyn before being a stay-at-home wife and mom. She always enjoyed a full house with family and friends, and nobody was left hungry.

Lydia enjoyed working in her yard, shopping, going out to eat and telephone conversations with family and friends. She loved to travel and went on several trips, near and far.

She loved Jesus and her family unconditionally, and filled their hearts with much joy. Lydia never wanted to give up and fought until the end to stay with her family. “Tomorrow will be a better day”

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Rebecca White; brothers, Don, Ernie and Ricky; and sister, Ann Sanchez.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ruben Daniel Gonzales; three children, Daniel, Keith and Melissa Chavez and spouse, Anthony Chavez; grandchildren, Kayla and Kurt Gonzales and Tristan Chavez; brother, Ron and spouse, Imelda White; sisters, Jan and spouse, Keith Andrews, and Kathleen Harris; and a host of close of family and friends.

Services were held on Friday, Aug. 12, at the First Baptist Church of Los Chavez. Interment followed at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen.

Pallbearers were Robbie Andrews, Kurt Gonzales, Diego Gonzales, Alfred White, Alfred Sanchez, Dion White, Bill Gonzales, Ezequiel Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers were Kayla Gonzales, Bernadette Perez and Rebecca Sanchez.

Funeral arrangements were trusted to Noblin Funeral Service, Los Lunas, 2211-D Main St., SE Los Lunas, 505-866-9992.
