Marcella Sofia Luna

Marcella Sofia Luna was born in Belen. She and her family were lifelong members of the Catholic Church and especially devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Los Chavez, where they served as mayordomos and padrinos.

Marcella was an advocate and responsible for the christening of the beautiful hand-painted portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe that hangs in the church.

Marcella was a beautiful very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Marcella suffered with dignity on dialysis for more than 10 years. The Lord came for her early on Saturday, June 4. She was anointed and ready to go home.

She is now in the company of her Creator and her loving family, parents, James and Bessie Sanchez; brother, Edward Sanchez; and sister, Carolyn “Bubbles” Sanchez.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Louie Luna; her sons, Donald and Daniel; her daughter, Barbie Tedrow (Rick) and her three grandchildren, Mack, Madison and Jacob Tedrow; brothers, Remy Sanchez (Becca), Jimmy Sanchez (Dolores) and Ignacio (Wendy); sister, Mary Theresa Contreras (Michael); and sister-in-law, Selma Barela.

Marcella was blessed with a big family and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was the rock to our family and will forever be cherished in our hearts.

Services were held Wednesday, June 8, at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Los Chavez.
