1944-2022

Margaret Jospehine DeVocht Clawson

On Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, Margaret Josephine DeVocht Clawson, of Bluewater, passed peacefully at the age of 78. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and she returned home to be surrounded by her family and friends.

She is survived by her spouse of 28 years, Evert Thayne Clawson; her brother, James DeVocht; her five stepchildren, Stephen Clawson, Cynthia Clawson, Sarah Clawson, Jenelle Kotter, Christina Dombrowsky; eight nieces and nephews, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Bylund, on April 11, 1964.

Margaret was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the age of 16, and her life was a testament of her devotion to the Savior. She served in numerous church callings, and she was an especially gifted visiting teacher and ministering sister.

Margaret’s desire to serve others led her into the medical support profession where she worked in private medical offices and hospital admissions for many years. She gave up everything at age 50 to marry a widower with five children and transform their lives. She will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 4, at the Mount Taylor Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grants, N.M., 1010 Bondad Ave. Those wishing to share memories of Margaret may do so online at forms.gle/aa6oDfZar46sCV7s9. Those unable to participate in the memorial in person may join via Zoom. To receive the link, email [email protected].
