The public is invited to the 2022 celebration of National Medal of Honor Day and National Vietnam War Veterans Day, at 1 p.m., Friday, March 25, hosted by the Daniel D. Fernandez, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9676.

Daniel D. Fernandez

VFW Post 9676 will celebrate these two significant historical days at its post home, located at the entrance to Daniel D. Fernandez Memorial Park, 1201 N.M. 314. The VFW Post is named after local hero and Medal of Honor recipient, Daniel D. Fernandez, and a significant number of our members are Vietnam veterans, some whom knew Daniel personally.

If interested in learning more about Fernandez, visiting with Vietnam War veterans, learning about VFW Post 9676 activities, or joining the post, join in the celebration. There will be several speakers, including Cynthia Shetter, who will present “Who Was Daniel D. Fernandez?”

The event is free and no registration is required. Refreshments will also be served.

All post members are vaccinated, however due to concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19, wearing of masks is recommended for high-risk individuals, but optional for others.

For questions, contact Post Quartermaster Jack Lovato at 505-550-4076 or Post Commander Chet Pino at 505-414-0288.
