Los Lunas Student Nutrition

Los Lunas Student Nutrition will be providing meals for students who are participating in remote learning for the rest of the school year. They will be providing five breakfasts, lunches and snacks every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. The meals will be ready to pick up from the Student Nutrition warehouse, located at 1262 N.M. 314 SW, Los Lunas.

If a parent is interested in picking up meals for their children, they will need to send an email to Student Nutrition with the following information: The name of the person picking up the meals; the names and student ID numbers of the students; and the names of any children not enrolled in school.

Spring clean up in Bosque Farms

The village of Bosque Farms spring clean up will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18. The rolloff containers will be at the village maintenance yard next to the wastewater treatment plant on DeSmet Road.

There is a limited number of containers, so residents will be allowed one load per household and must bring a water or utility bill to prove residency.

Friends of Whitfield Silent Auction

The Friends of Whitfield will be holding an online silent auction of several hand carved, hand painted Aldo Leopold benches, as well as several other items for nature lovers. Memorial scholarship

The Jay Torrez Memorial Scholarship, in honor of Jay Torrez, of Tomé, who had a career as a Hollywood stuntman, is available to graduating seniors at Valencia, Los Lunas, Belen high schools and the Schools of Dreams Academy, and pursuing a degree in the film industry.

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Provide an essay (no more than one page) describing why you are interested in film, and your educational and career goals. Applications are available at respective schools, and at The Los Lunas Museum of Heritage and Arts, 251 Main St., Los Lunas.

Master Gardener scholarships

The Valencia County Extension Master Gardener Program, will be awarding $1,000 scholarships to two Valencia County residents who are 2021 graduating high school seniors.

The scholarships will be awarded to students who, this fall 2021, enroll into one of the NMSU campuses. The deadline for the students’ applications and recommendations is Friday, April 30.

The applications are available through the Valencia County Extension website’s section “Upcoming Programs” at aces.nmsu.edu/county/valencia/.

Open Trail and Health Day

The Meadow Lake Parks Area Association will hold an Open Trail and Health Day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 17, at the MLPAA property at the end of Meadow Lake Road.

The park will be open to the general public. Come and see the park, ride your horse, walk your dog, bring your bicycle, All COVID-19 precautions shall be observed.
