New COVID-19 testing times

Starting the week of Aug. 31, the Belen Public Health Office will be reducing COVID-19 test dates to Tuesdays and Fridays but will increase testing times for those days by one hour. Testing times for those days will be from 8-11 a.m. They encourage testing to everyone in the community whether they are asymptomatic or symptomatic.

Census event

A mobile census event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Meadow Lake Community Center. A volunteer will be on site to assist people in filling out their 2020 census. People must wear a mask, and social distancing will be enforced.

Take the 2020 census online through Sept. 30. For information or to fill out the Census online, visit 2020census.gov or icountnm.gov.

Food needed

Due to a growing need by many local residents, including those recently laid off from jobs as well as seniors and other needy residents, food pantries in the county are running very low on what they can offer. If you can donate, take donations to the Belen Business Center, 719 Main St., during office hours, Monday through Friday. Call 966-2567.

Food bank

The Roadrunner Food Bank is hosting food distributions for families experiencing hunger in Bosque Farms. The mobile food pantries will take place at the Wells Fargo Bank branch, 970 Bosque Farms Blvd., at 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, and 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 19.
