In conjunction with the New Mexico Department of Transportation and Safer New Mexico Now, the Los Lunas Police Department will be conducting saturation patrols, enforcement checkpoints, and seat belt enforcement operations during the month of June.

Recycling at AC Disposal

AC Disposal Recycling Drop-Off Center, 501 Bernard Ave., Belen, is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 8-11:30 a.m. on Saturdays, for Belen residents only. Must show proof of residency, i.e., driver’s license, water bill, etc. For information, call 866-1010.

Books on Becker re-opening

Books on Becker, the second-hand bookstore at 513 Becker Ave. in Belen, will hold a re-opening celebration from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 5. The store will be giving away free art posters, selling paperback books for $1 a bag and CDs for $1.

Vacation Bible Schools

The First Baptist Church of Belen, located at the corner of Fourth Street and Becker Avenue, will be holding its Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon, June 21-25. The event is for children pre-K through 12 years old. For questions, call 505-861-8621 or email [email protected].

Peralta Memorial Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Road, will be hosting a free Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon, June 21-25. Children who will be going into kindergarten through the sixth grade are welcome and invited to attend. For more information or to register, call the church at 865-9334.

Golf tournament

The Greater Belen Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2021 Tim Lardner Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, June 4, at Tierra del Sol Golf Club in Rio Communities. Registration and the breakfast bar begin at 8 a.m., with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

A burger bar will be provided during the awards ceremony. The cost is $125 per person, or $400 per team. To register, call the chamber at 864-8091 or email [email protected].

Food for seniors

The ECHO CSFP Program is offering free food for senior citizens who are 60 years old and older from 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, June 8, at the Belen Community Center, 305 Eagle Lane.

Job Fair

The Infinity High School Community Job Fair will be held from 8-10 a.m., Friday, June 11, at Tierra del Sol Golf Club in Rio Communities. Bring your resumes, smiles and job-seeking skills.

There will be opportunities to be hired by local and Albuquerque businesses. Many are seeking to hire summer or permanent employees. Rummage Sale

St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 113 La Luna Place, Rio Communities, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 12. Items for sale include clothes, small kitchen appliances, new door truck mirrors, upholstery tools, computer desks and more. For information, call 864-7954.

2021 Valencia County Fair

The 88th annual Valencia County Fair will be held Aug. 1-Aug. 8 at the fairgrounds in Belen.

The Valencia Fair Management Company, Inc., is also looking for anyone interested in doing a janitorial contract and/or providing security at this year’s fair.
