The Rio Abajo Library Cooperative will hold its quarterly meeting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 22, at the Bosque Farms Library. All librarians are invited. Need money for college?
Los Lunas High School will hold its annual financial aid and scholarship workshop on Monday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the school library. It is for seniors as well as juniors. Parents of seniors who have filed their 2001 tax return may bring them in for assistance in filling out the free application for Federal Students Aid (FAFSA).
San Juan Neighbors meet
The San Juan Neighborhood Association will meet from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at La Promesa Elementary School on NM 304. On the agenda are petitions for a special zoning district for the Veguita, Las Nutrias, Contreras and La Joya communities. They’ll also talk about water depletion, property values, health issues and power plants. Looking for corned beef?
St. Patrick’s Day dinners of corned beef and cabbage will be served by two church groups this weekend.
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church will serve the traditional Irish meal at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at the church, 113 La Luna in Rio Communities. Proceeds will go to the church’s men’s group. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children.
The building committee for Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church will serve its second annual dinner from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the Sheriff’s Posse Hall across from Wal-Mart in Belen. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children if tickets are purchased in advance by calling 864-8851 or 864-4337. At the door, tickets will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Special ed input wanted
Parents of special needs students interested in serving on a randomly-selected committee to interview candidates for special education director for the Belen schools may call the personnel department, 966-1000 by March 22.
