Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Fiestas
Our Lady of Sorrows Fiestas will be held Sunday, Sept. 19, at the church in La Joya. The day will start with a Mass at 9 a.m., followed by music by Kevin Michael Band from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and Sangre Joven from 2-6 p.m. The raffle will be held at 6 p.m. Other events include food booths, cake, pie and merchandise auction, cake walk, 50/50, and children and teen games. A trash pick-up is scheduled for 8-10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, along N.M. 47 in Rio Communities. Citizens are encouraged to help clean up for only two hours. The cleanup will be between Mile Markers 19-20. Volunteers will meet at Rio Communities City Hall parking lot, 360 Rio Communities Blvd. Safety vests, trash bags, gloves and pickup devices will be provided on a first-come basis. You can also bring your own equipment.
Rio Abajo Festival
The annual Rio Abajo Festival, hosted by the Greater Belen Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, on Becker Avenue in Belen. There will be a car show, food trucks, corn hole, dance contests, music, art, beer and wine and more.
