Elicia Baca

1927-2020

Elicia Baca, age 93, a resident of Bosque, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 28, 2020.

She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. After raising her children, she went on to work at the Belen Consolidated Schools as a cook, retiring after 21 years of service.

She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in La Joya, where she faithfully served the church as mayordoma numerous times in the San Antonio Mission in Sabinal, as well as Eucharistic minister for many years.

In the early years of her marriage, she and Hilario loved going to dances, and they enjoyed going to Laughlin. Her favorite hobby was gardening and she had a green thumb, which produced beautiful vibrant flowers. Elicia loved crocheting and made blankets for her family. She enjoyed watching “Wheel of Fortune,” was an expert in search a word, and loved shopping.

Elicia was preceded in death by her husband, Hilario Baca; daughters, Lucy and Mary; son, Mark Anthony; and grandchild, Adam Levandoski.

She is survived by her children, Wilfred, Romy, Martin, Joseph, Lorraine and Elaine (Joe); grandchildren, Sammy (Shelley), Greg, Felix (Andrea), Hilario (Audra), Avelino (Stephanie), Erin, JoAnn, Chris (Ryan), Darlene, Bobby, Felicia, Mark Anthony (Katie), Stephanie, Marisa, Elicia, Joey and Maria. In addition, she had 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

A special thank you to Norma Guevara, who provided such loving care to our mother.

Services took place on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 4-5, with a viewing and Rosary held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, and a final visitation and Funeral Mass at the San Antonio Catholic Church in Sabinal on Monday. Interment followed at San Antonio Catholic Cemetery in Sabinal.

Pallbearers were Wilfred Baca, Joseph Baca, Hilario Baca, Bobby Baca, Marisa Baca and Maria Levandoski. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Lopez, Avelino Baca, Chris Baca and Daniel Baca.

Vickie Lynn Edgington Fuhrman (Weisner)

1959-2020

Vickie Lynn Edgington Fuhrman (Weisner), passed away suddenly on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at the age of 61 years.

She was born to Karen Rae (Douglass) and Leslie Gene Edgington on March 18, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa. Vickie grew up in Organ, N.M. She graduated from Mayfield High School in 1977. Vickie was very creative and enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and various crafts.

She will be forever remembered by her children, Patricia Dunn (Mike), of Las Cruces, and Cassandra Fuhrman, of Belen; stepchildren, Carol Stagnaro (Mike), Debra Cornett and Karl Martin Fuhrman; her mother, Karen Pinnock, of Belen; and her sisters and brother, Patricia Steffan (Robert), Leslie Slosar (Edward), William Weisner (Maria) and Angela Ekstrom (Alvin). Vickie will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Jessica, Jonathan, Jacob, Makayla and Chance; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Vickie was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Fuhrman; and her father, Leslie Gene Edgington.

A memorial dinner in Vickie’s honor will be held at a later date. No services are planned.

Dominic E. Mora

1987-2020

Dominic E. Mora was called to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 1, 2020.

He was raised in Tomé, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Dominic graduated from Belen High School in 2005, and went on to earn a Fire Science degree from CNM. He continued on the family tradition of being a fourth-generation firefighter for Albuquerque Fire Department. Dominic later found pride in being a railway conductor for BNSF Railroad.

He is survived by the love of his life, his daughter, Jessica Barbara Mora, whom he lovingly shared with her mother, Janessa Alderete; and his parents, Sandra and William Mora; godparents, Vince and Diane Mora; grandmother, Gloria Garcia; aunts and uncles, Ralph and Cindy Mora, Mark Mora, Paulette and David Gonzales, Michael Mora, Margaret and Paul Mares and Gilbert Garcia; and many more loving family and friends.

Dominic was reunited in Heaven with his sister, Jessica Krystine Mora, whom he missed dearly while on this Earth. He is also preceded in death by grandparents, Billy and Maryann Mora and Gilbert Garcia.

Dom was a kind, loving, generous human with a smile that would light up any room. Dominic never met a stranger who didn’t love him. He will be missed by so many.

Honorary pallbearer will be his cousin, Daniel Leyba. Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 8, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, starting with a visitation at 9 a.m., a Rosary at 10 a.m., a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. and interment following.

Daniel Thomas Paiz

1954-2020

Daniel Thomas Paiz, 55, passed away on Sept. 26, 2020, in Edgewood, N.M.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1964, in Albuquerque, to the late Juan and Tomasita (Fuentes) Paiz. Daniel was a lifelong resident of New Mexico and was raised in Los Lunas. You could find Daniel with his friends in his El Camino or old 1950’s Ford truck, usually in the fields, pheasant hunting or fishing.

He learned pretty quickly he could back up a tractor trailer into about any spot, and was a truck driver for more than 30 years. He loved fishing, hunting and camping, but mostly he loved driving his truck

Daniel is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert Ortega.

He is survived by his wife, Louisa Paiz; his daughter from his first marriage, Danielle (Paiz) Gutierrez and husband, Bo; brother, Johnny Paiz and wife, Mary; sisters, Priscilla Fernandez and husband, Peter, Teresa Felts and husband, Ray, and Janie Paiz Ortega; three grandchildren, Mario, Lance and Sean; as well as numerous nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins.

Robert Trujillo

1934-2020

Robert Trujillo was a Korean War veteran. He honorably served our country for 20 years in the United States Air Force and 20 years in the civil service.

He loved to rock and roll, and listen to his ’50’s music. He will be sorely missed.

A visitation and service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Salazar Funeral Homes and Crematory in Albuquerque.

Robert was be laid to rest at the Monticello Cemetery in Monticello, N.M.
