Joe E. Baca Jr.

Died 2019

Joe E. Baca Jr. passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2019, of complications from a stroke.

Joe served in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict, and later in the Air Force Reserves. As a civilian, he pursued a career in computers and worked for various companies and the state of New Mexico as a programmer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose E. and Augustina Baca; brothers, Marty and Michael Baca; and niece, Julie Hill.

Joe is survived by his sisters, Lorraine Baca and Victoria March and her husband, Brian March; his nephew, Aaron and his wife, Christina Hill; and grand-nephews and nieces, Dominic Giannini, Gino Turano, Hayley and Kevin Heard, and Alli Hill.

A visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at Noblin Funeral Service Los Lunas Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14.

Laverne Billy

1962-2019

Laverne Billy, age 56, a resident of Los Lunas, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019.

Laverne was born in Winslow, Ariz., on March 30, 1962.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers and a sister.

Laverne leaves behind her husband, two daughters, two sons, six grandchildren as well as three sisters and two brothers.

She was a member of Calvary Chapel; she enjoyed fellowship with the ladies’ group on Tuesdays and again at luncheon engagement on Thursdays. Laverne was one of the last stay-at-home moms; she enjoyed raising her children and being a wonderful home provider. She will be greatly missed by all, but not forgotten by any.

Michael W. Correll

Died 2019

Michael W. Correll, age 45, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019.

He was a son of the Secundino Baldonado American Legion Post 81 in Belen, a former EMT-I with Living Cross Ambulance Service in Valencia County, and a transportation specialist at the headstart program in Valencia County.

Michael is survived by his wife, Joan Williams-Correll; daughter, Shante Burch-Correll and husband, Joey Winchell; granddaughters, Nevaeh and Jayden Winchell; mother, Sharon Moeller; brothers, Bill Correll and Vince Martin and his wife, Tina; stepson, Robert Torrez and his wife, Brandy, and their children, Destiny Fuller, Robby Torrez and Paul Torrez; and stepdaughter, Valerie Torrez and her husband, Steven Lockyer, and their son, Felix Lockyer.

A life celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on March 23, 2019, at the family home in Los Lunas; event details are publicly available via Facebook.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations on Mike’s behalf be sent to the Secundino Baldonado American Legion Post 81 in Belen.

Martin John Encinias

1960-2019

Martin John Encinias, 58, met the eyes of Jesus on Jan. 6, 2019, in Los Lunas.

He was born on July 27, 1960, in Mountainair. He was a father of three, Papaw of four and a half. A good husband to Lisa Encinias for 38 years.

As a young boy under Monroe Parkers wing, he learned how to be a cowboy. He roped and rode every day from then on out. He trained horses and taught many people how to rope and ride.

His life was filled with love and grace. He was a hardworking man and always made sure everyone was taken care of. Martin never met a stranger he didn’t love with his whole heart. Rodeo horses, cattle and his family were his world. He had a sixth sense; he was “one” with his horses and cattle.

He will be missed but gets to do what he loves and be our angel forever and ever. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Martin is preceded in death by his father, Segundo Encinias; sister, Clorinda Lopez; brothers, Lee Encinias, Amos Encinias, Pete Encinias and Frank Encinias; mentors, Monroe and Laura Parker; nephew, Michael Ray Encinias; and his horse, Jiggs.

Martin is survived by his mother, Florenda Encinias, of Moriarty; beloved wife, Lisa Encinias, of Belen; in-laws, Charlie and Sue Hughes; sons, Kyle Encinias and wife, Ness, of Jarales, and Charlie Encinias and wife, Randa, of Corona, N.M.; daughter, Kendra Otis and husband, Andy, of Estancia; brothers, Raymond Encinias and wife, Carmen, Speedy Encinias and wife, Karen, and Adan Encinias and wife, Dollie; brother-in-law, Mike Hughes and wife, Lisa; sister-in-law, Lucille Encinias; sisters, Henrietta Garcia and husband, Joe, Erma Gonzales, Lucy Orio and husband, Anthony, Elena Irvin and husband, Larry, Juana Pachta and husband, Jim, Tommie Encinias and Debbie Harris and husband, Peter; dog, Pancho; and his horse, Paint; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Martin was blessed with four grandchildren, Payton Otis, Lyndi Otis, Andy Otis and Roe Encinias.

A Rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, at the Stanley Cyclone Center in Stanley, N.M. Burial of cremains will take place on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Corona Cemetery in Corona, N.M.

Earlene Belle Crawford Gladwell

1946-2018

Earlene Belle Crawford Gladwell has been received into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Dec. 22, 2018, after a sudden illness in Oklahoma City.

Earlene, formerly of Belen, had been living in Oklahoma City since the passing of her husband, Paul Gladwell, in 2015.

Earlene was born Oct. 9, 1946, to Lee H. and Beatrice Laverne Sims Crawford, in Quemado, N.M. She lived most of her life in New Mexico. She had been retired for many years after a career working in secretarial positions and as a tech at the now closed, Los Lunas Hospital and Training School.

She was predeceased by her parents, spouse, Paul; sisters, Marzell Martin and Lucille Crosby; and brothers, Manuel, Harris, Dale and Lloyd Crawford.

She is survived by sister, Darlene Elliott, of Los Lunas; Arley Crawford and wife, Sherry, of Elizabethtown, Ken.; daughter, Shawna and husband, Jacob Jaramillo; and son, Lee Goldman, of Oklahoma; stepchildren, Gary Gladwell and Kathy Romesburg; grandchildren, Jacob Jaramillo Jr., Shania Longoria and husband, Jesse, Adrianna Webb and husband, William, Selena, Emilia and Abraham Jaramillo, Jamie Goldman, Nathan, Matthew, Grace and Brooklynn Romesburg, Sydney and Emily Gladwell; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Cataleyah Jaramillo, and Eliana Longoria; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved so dearly.

She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, with a heart of gold. She will be missed by her many friends and family.

A memorial service for Earlene will be planned at a later date.

Lucille Love Moyers

1948-2019

Lucille Love Moyers, age 70, a resident of Belen, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019.

She was a sweet, honest and loyal southern Baptist. Lucille was a practicing Christian in her daily life, who became a beautiful, independent and awesome woman. She was a talkative person, who never met a stranger.

Lucille loved wearing all of her “bling.” In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, feeding the wildlife, watching her favorite TV shows, reading, and shopping at yard sales and antique stores. Lucille’s passions were her children, grandchildren and her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Marshall McKinnon Moyers (USAF LTC retired); and mother, Lucille Clifie Love Moyers, of Tampa, Fla.

Lucille is survived by her son, William Marshall Hodge, of Thonotosassa, Fla.; daughter, Michell Renee Bell, of Brandon, Fla.; sister, Marsha Sarah Moyers; and four grandchildren.

Esther “Sis” Marie Nerhood

1923-2019

Esther “Sis” Marie Nerhood, age 95, a resident of Rio Communities, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.

She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 36 for more than 50 years in Enid, Okla. Esther was born in Boise City, Okla., on Nov. 24, 1923. She moved to New Mexico in the 1930s during the Great Dust Bowl.

Esther owned and operated Sis’s Curio & Pawn Shop in Cuba, N.M., for more than 40 years until she closed up, retired and moved to Rio Communities in 2014. Esther lived in an in-law apartment that Bill and Myra provided for her and helped with her daily care and needs.

She was a very independent and proud woman. Esther self-taught and spoke fluent Navajo. She loved entertaining friends and family, western music and dancing. In her free time, she loved to go play on the slot machines. Esther also loved cooking and managed to continue to fix many things for herself almost right to the end.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph E. and Faye Haverstick; brother, Virgil Lee Haverstick; sister, Thelma Howard; son, Gary Lee Gaede; and daughter, Fairy Ann Gaede.

Esther is survived by her son, Bill Gaede and wife, Myra, of Rio Communities; three grandchildren, Patty Gaede and Diana Lopez, both of Rio Communities, and Lee Gaede, of Hobbs; and one great-grandchild, Ashley Lopez, of Rio Communities. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

A very special thank you goes to Faneta Houston (niece) for all her help and love over the last 4 1/2 years.

Andelicio “Andy” Vallejos

Died 2018

Andelicio “Andy” Vallejos, 82, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018.

He was born to the late Vicente and Navidad Vallejos in Moquino, N.M.

Andy was a lovable and caring man; he loved his family very much. Andy would be so happy to see each and everyone at all times, with a smile; and loved to be with them.

Andy is survived by his wife of 30 years; Ida; and daughters, RoseMary Vaisa (Roland) and Denise Kline (Jimmy); stepdaughter, Margie Perea; stepson, Candido Chavez; brothers, Camacio (Nele), Philip (Donna), Andrew (Brena) Vallejos; and sister, Lucy Carrillo.

He is also survived by grandsons, Joshua Vaisa and Ryan Kline; granddaughters, Jeanette Sais, Kassie Cordova, Loreen and Savannah Vaisa, Marissa, Heather and Shylyn Kline; step-granddaughters, Marisa Garcia, Johnna Pena, Ashly Chavez, Angelina Silva; step-grandsons, Carcos, Jeffery and Timothy; four step-grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Andy was preceded in death by his first wife, Julia Vallejos; sons, Danny and Tony Vallejos; stepson, Jeffery Montano; brothers, Paul, Bobby, Jerry, and Eloy Vallejos, and Candido; sisters, Alice and Flora; greatgrandson, Antonio Sais; and stepgrandson, Johnny Pena Jr.
