BELEN-Public libraries are an important part of the community, especially in the summer.

They are places for the community to attend summer programs, read and learn in a safe space.

To ensure that the Belen Public Library, and all libraries in Valencia County, are equipped to help as much as the community as possible, PNM donated 20 retired laptops.

“PNM is so happy that we are able to support our communities,” said Sara Ross, client services supervisor for PNM. “It is exciting to see that the equipment that we can’t use anymore get put to such great use at places like the Belen Public Library.”

PNM donated 21 Surface Pro 3 laptops to the Belen Public Library to give those who go there one more tool to learn with. These will be used to support coding classes, research, and many more activities.

“These laptops are going to be able to help us expand our computer literacy work into children and teen programing,” said Kathleen Pickering, the director of the Belen Public Library. “We are actually collaborating with all the public libraries in Valencia County to ensure that computer access is available to all our communities.”

PNM is proud to partner with public entities in New Mexico. They hope  by providing accessibility to technology, they can encourage future generations to pursue career paths that will help communities in the future.
