Baseball
Los Lunas (3-0) began their season strong with a tournament win at the Scorpion Invite in Farmington. The Tigers opened the tournament with a 4-1 win over Sandia Prep, then a 3-1 win over Farmington. They finished the tournament with a 14-3 victory over Aztec.
The Tigers’ next game will be away when they face Santa Teresa at 10 a.m., Thursday.
Belen (3-4) competed in the Cleveland Round Robin Tournament in Rio Rancho last week. They fell to Pueblo West 15-2 in the first game. In the second game, the Eagles shut out Clovis 4-0, but they lost 6-5 in their final game against Hobbs.
Their next game will be at Ricketts Park in Farmington when they face Cleveland High School at 1 p.m, Thursday.
Valencia (6-1) took part in the Carlsbad Tournament last week. After falling to Artesia 12-5 in the first game, the Jags bounced back and beat West Mesa 5-4 and Burges (El Paso, TX) 10-6. Their game against Alamogordo was not reported before the News-Bulletin deadline.
The Jaguars’ next game will be at home when they host Volcano Vista at 11 a.m., Saturday.
Softball
Los Lunas (3-2) headed to Bullhead, Arizona, to compete in the Tournament of Champions last week. They beat El Modena (Calif.) 3-2 in the first game and lost to Orange Lutheran (Calif.) 10-0 in the second game. The next day, the Lady Tigers fell to Torrence (Calif.) 8-3 and beat Winslow (Ariz.) 8-0.
Their next game will be at Valley at 4 p.m., Thursday.
Belen (2-2) shut out Del Norte 18-0. Their game against Valley was not reported until after the News-Bulletin deadline.
Their next scheduled game is at home when they host Hope Christian at 3 p.m., Tuesday.
Valencia (1-2) headed to Nevada for the David Kops Memorial Tournament. They beat Foothill 9-5, but fell to Basic 1-0.
The Lady Jaguars’ next game will be against Aztec at the Rio Rancho Softball Complex at 3 p.m., Friday.
Tennis
Belen competed in the Capital City Quad Meet. The boys lost the first round 5-4, but won the next two round and finished first. The girls won all of their rounds and finished first as well.
Valencia boys beat Gallup 6-3 and Miyamura 7-2 last week, while the girls beat Gallup 9-0 and Miyamura 5-1.
Los Lunas participated in the Mayfield/ Las Cruces Tournament. The boys placed sixth, and the girls placed 10th.
