Raymond Gonzales

Raymond Gonzales, age 86, of Seboyeta, N.M., passed away on April 6, 2023. He was just three weeks shy of his 87th birthday.

Raymond was born on April 28, 1936. He was the third child of eight children to Daniel and Federica Gonzales. Raymond graduated high school in 1954; he later attended St. Joseph College in Albuquerque.

In September 1958, Raymond married his lovely wife, Jennie Marquez. Raymond worked as a uranium miner and iron worker in the construction of metal buildings.

In 1974, Raymond ventured out on his own with his wife, Jennie, to build a legacy. Raymond purchased Cocina Ranch in 1974, after working on the ranch as a hand for several years. Becoming a cattle rancher was a longtime dream of Raymond’s.

Raymond raised his two sons and grandchildren on horseback on his ranch, teaching them horsemanship and cattle working skills.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jennie Gonzales; children, Karl Gonzales and wife, Terri, and Chris Gonzales and companion, Carol Morin; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Piva Ornelas and husband, Jose, Angie Arite, Herman Gonzales and wife, Rosalie, Anita Boyer and husband, Larry; and sister-in-law, Mati Gonzales.
