LOS LUNAS—Rio Metro is introducing a new “deviated fixed” bus route in Valencia County.

Bus Route 210 will provide expanded service along N.M. 6 and N.M. 47 between Los Lunas and Bosque Farms. It will also provide residents east of the Los Lunas Rail Runner Station with a new connection to the station.

A deviated fixed route is a fixed route that still adheres to a regular schedule, but passengers have the option to request a pick-up or drop-off within one quarter of a mile from the bus route.

One deviation will be allowed per trip as long as it is within a quarter of a mile of the route — the service is first-come, first-serve. The price will remain the same for trips.

According to the Rio Metro website, this new bus route was implemented in response to the growing use of services in the county. Route 210 will connect with bus routes 208 and 209, which will allow for easier access into Albuquerque, Belen, the Pueblo of Isleta and the UNM-Valencia campus.

This new permanent route operates about every 45 minutes from 5:20 a.m. to 7:55 p.m., Monday through Friday.

To schedule a trip deviation, riders will need to call 505-352-3595 the day prior before noon.
