Singer Romano Enrique of Adelino will be sharing his love of tradition Mexican folk songs during the Cinco de Mayo weekend at several performances in Valencia County.

He will be at the Fred Luna Senior Citizen Center in Los Lunas at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1.

On Thursday, he will be at the Belen Senior Citizen Center at 10 a.m. and the Del Rio Senior Citizen Center at 12:30 p.m.

Friday evening will find him at Carlos’ Lounge in Belen from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with accompaniment by Duete los Paisanos.

Enrique and the Duete los Paisanos will also perform Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pete’s Cafe in Belen.

The artist will have his latest CD, “Retos y Pasion de un Cantante” (“Challenges and Passions of a Singer”) available for sale at each of the performances.

Enrique has been nominated by the New Mexico Hispano Entertainers Association and New Mexico Hispano Music Association for Ranchera of the Year, Engineer of the Year and Traditional Folk Song of the Year.

All of Enrique’s works are traditional Mexican songs in the mariachi style. “Some of the songs are very old folk songs,” he said of his repertoire. “Because of this, my music is very appealing to the seniors who remember the music from their childhood.”
