Sibie Padilla

1937-2022

Sibie Padilla

Sibie Padilla, age 85, of Belen, passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 14, 2022.

She was born to Horacio and Vicentita Vialpando on April 13, 1937.

Sibie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Felix Padilla; siblings, and her great-granddaughter, I’liyah.

She is survived by her sister, Isabell Gabaldon; her son, Steven (Maxine) Padilla, and their three children and three grandchildren; her daughter, Phyllis (Matt) Ballinger and their two children and six grandchildren; son, Joseph (Magdaline) Padilla and their two children and eight grandchildren; daughter, Bess Padilla and her two children; daughter, Pamala Padilla and her son, Sean; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sibie was a member of many organizations, including the Catholic Daughters, Tops Club and Elks. Sibie loved to dance and was talented with a crochet and quilting needle, making many creations that she shared with those she loved that can be enjoyed for years to come. She loved music and loved to dance. Her cooking was something to talk about and you could always find a home-cooked meal at her place!

She was an avid softball player in her younger years, and told many stories of her softball days. Her stories and jokes would make some blush, but would always leave you with a smile.

Sibie did not want an obituary; this is a memorandum of a full and happy life, and words can’t give justice to the wonderful, loving and happy person she was.

Services for Sibie took place on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Sibie was laid to rest at the Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Alfred Padilla, Adam Padilla, Diego Padilla, Sean Simmons, Adam Sanchez and John Matthews.

Arrangements were handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., 505-864-4448, where an online guest register is available at noblin.com.
