The month of July featured a scramble on July 7 and regular play days on all Wednesdays and Saturdays for the Women’s Golf Association. Winning the scramble was the team of Marilyn Winters, Tammie Fuller and Joanne Romero.

First gross winners throughout the month for the 18-hole division were Beth Taylor, Lina Castillo, Kathy Burrow and Anna Marinez with one each. Bertta Murzyn was a four-time winner and Edie Redfearn-Moore won twice. Nine hole division first gross winners were Fran Griffeth, Cindy Hill and Redfearn-Moore, with Martinez winning two. Martinez broke a score of 50 for nine holes on July 14.

Chip-ins were scored by Jeannie Burleson, Kathryn Bayless, Taylor, Romero, Redfearn-Moore and Murzyn. Birdies were tallied by Janice Prescott, Hill, Redfearn-Moore and a grand total of four by Murzyn.

On the July 28 play day as a fun contest, 18-holers were required to use only drivers as putters. The winner for low putts was Regina Trujillo and Fuller.

Congratulations go to Marilyn Winters for winning first net in her flight at the New Mexico Senior Women’s Tournament in Los Alamos.

In August the highlight of the month will be the Grandma’s Tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 18.

It is not too late to join the WGA. If interested, please contact Edie Redfearn-Moore at 864-7015 or Kathy Burrow at 270-7048.
