The state track and field championships get underway for county schools on Friday, June 25 at 11 a.m., when athletes from Belen and Valencia will compete in the 4A state championships.

The event will start with field events. Running events, except for the 3200 meter run, will begin at 1 p.m. and follow a rolling schedule as the day progresses, with 15 minute breaks in between each session.The meet will take place at the UNM Soccer and Track Complex in Albuquerque and tickets for the event are only available online through nmact.org.

The Eagles will have a total of 27 athletes competing at the event, with 15 boys and 12 girls making the field.
Valencia will have nine athletes competing, three boys and six girls.
The Jaguars contingent is headlined by junior Meadow Storms, one of the top Javelin throwers in the state.
The 5A state championships will take place on Saturday, June 26 and will follow the same schedule as the 4A event, with competitions beginning at 11 a.m. in the field.

Los Lunas

Los Lunas will have 24 athletes competing.
This marks the first year the Tigers will compete at the 5A championships and the Tigers will be looking to make a strong impression at the event.
Tickets for the event cost $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors, plus an online service fee.
UNM will also be charging for parking, with the cost $5 per car and $20 per RV.

For the first time at a New Mexico Activities Association event this year, concessions will be available.
For those unable to attend, the NMAA will be posting live results on their website as well as streaming the event through NFHS Network, for a subscription cost of 10.99.
