Belen

Our Lady of Belen Fiesta Queen candidates are Teresa Armijo and Natalie Garley. Both are seniors at Belen High School and are working for the Belen Summer Recreation program this summer.

Armijo is the daughter of Alfredo and Flora Armijo and granddaughter of Ralph and Prescilla Castillo and the late Pasquel and Sofia Armijo.

She is a BHS varsity cheerleader and enjoys participating in gymnastics. Armijo plans to attend either New Mexico State University or Western New Mexico University and study accounting and business.

“I decided to run for Fiesta Queen because it looked like fun and there are scholarships awarded,” Armijo said.

Garley is the daughter of Henry and Sally Garley of Belen. She is a member of the BHS golf team, Eagles Nest newspaper staff and National Honor Society.

After high school, she plans to attend college, however, at this time, she is not sure what career she will be pursuing. “My dream has always been to help others in some way,” she said.

“Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a Fiesta Queen candidate so that I could help the church,” she said.
