Though recent graduates completed their academic careers in late May, some continued their prep sports careers for one more game: the 2019 New Mexico High School Coaches Association All Star Games.

Here’s how the local talent stacked up against the best in the state.

Tennis

Belen’s Roma Cordova represented the Eagles well with a win over Marissa Sena of Robertson.

Volleyball

Los Lunas grads Samantha Lente and Jaidyn Schollander represented Valencia County for the Southeast squad.

Former Belen coach Joanne Romero and her daughter, current Belen coach Andrea Montaño, coached the Northeast squad.

The Southeast beat the Southwest team 3-1 on Thursday, and fell 3-0 to the Northeast on Friday.

Football

Belen graduates Diego Casillas and Alexes Aguilar teamed up with Cody Vocu of Los Lunas on the South team.

The score for that game was not reported.

Girls Basketball

Los Lunas’ Marissa Weldon and the Lady Tigers’ coaching staff helped bolster the Southeast to a 77-69 victory over the Northeast.

When they played the Northwest squad, the Southeast fell 79-73.

Boys Basketball

Los Lunas’ senior trio of AJ Garcia, Darius Haywood and Zanen Zeller were joined by Belen’s Alexes Aguilar on the Southeast all star team.

They lost in a 93-91 shootout against the Northeast squad before falling to the Northwest in a high-scoring 115-112 game.

Softball

The two cats of Valencia County represented local softball as Valencia’s Destiney Ward joined Los Lunas’ Olivia Lopez, Marissa Weldon and Kylie Perez.

Baseball

Valencia graduates Davin Gonzales and Jeremy DiBartolomeo teamed up with Belen’s Jadrian Martinez on the Southeast team.
