MEADOW LAKE — Local law enforcement is awaiting more information about a suspicious death in Meadow Lake.

Last Wednesday, July 27, Valencia County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a property on Comanche Lane.

VCSO Lt. Joseph Rowland said the homeowner hadn’t been at the property for an extended period of time.

“He said there were broken windows and an RV in front of the home that didn’t belong there. He thought it was a potential burglary,” Rowland said.

When deputies arrived, they found the house was empty.

The lieutenant said deputies checked the RV, which was unlocked, and found a man dead inside. Based on the decomposition, Rowland said detectives estimated the man had been there about two weeks, but the Office of the Medical Investigator will make the final determination, as well as determine cause of death and make a positive identification of the decedent.

The broken windows were from a SWAT operation by the sheriff’s office in 2020 while serving a high-risk warrant on Jesus Kime, 37, of Meadow Lake, Rowland said. Kime is facing a voluntary manslaughter charge, among others, in relation to the September 2020 shooting death of Gary Lamb.
