American Legion Veterans Day celebration in Los Lunas

The John P. Elliott American Legion Post 85 and the Sons of the American Legion and the Auxiliary of Post 85 will host a Veterans Day Celebration with a free pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 11, at the post, 3474A N.M. 47 in Los Lunas.

All veterans, active military and their families are invited to show the post’s appreciation for their service. Non veterans are also invited for a donation of $5. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, and coffee and orange juice.

Veterans Day event at Daniel D. Fernandez Memorial Park

The annual Veterans Day event will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 11, at the Daniel D. Fernandez Memorial Park in Los Lunas. The event, hosted by L.I.V.E., Inc., the village of Los Lunas, the Blue Star Mothers of Valencia County, and RAKS Building Supply, will include fellowship and food.

Purple Heart recipient Col. Joe Long will be the featured speaker.

 

Veterans Day ceremony at Belen Veterans Memorial

A Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, at the Belen Veterans Memorial at Eagle Park to honor disabled veterans and their caregivers. The American Legion and Combat Riders Motorcycle Association will kick off the event with a parade of flags.

The Belen fire and police department will do the presentation of colors. Belen Mayor Robert Noblin will sing the national anthem, and Rev. Dr. Joe McDonald will perform “God Bless America. The guest speaker will be Jerry Moya of Combat Veterans of America.

There will be tributes to all branches of the armed services and to the Blue and Gold Star Mothers. There will also be placement of luminarias in honor of veterans. Blue Line Grill will provide complementary refreshments.
